What's New In ArticleLive NX 1.7?
Introduction

ArticleLive NX 1.7 is a major ArticleLive update. It includes a number of useful new features (described below), as well as bug fixes.

New Features in ArticleLive NX 1.7
  • New Template System - Now all the HTML and PHP code are completely separate. This has been achieved by adding a new level of template files, the 'snippet'. Template file hierarchy now works like: Layout File > Panel File > Snippet File

  • New Templates. Along with the updated template system, we have brand new CSS (no tables) templates. This also means more new templates, more frequently.

  • Automatic Google Adense Placement. Its now easier than ever to put Google Adsense onto your website. Simply go to your settings page in the control panel and click on the 'Adsense' tab. From there you can turn on and off the feature, insert your Google Adsense Id number, Channel number (optional), colors (optional, can use default template ones) and select where on the site you want them to show up.

  • Revenue Sharing. Need a way to entice new authors? The revenue sharing feature now lets you share the Google Adsense on your site with your authors. You can specify a percentage that represents the chance the author's Google Adsense ID will be used for the advertisements on their articles and blogs. For example, if the option is set to 35%, then there is a 35% chance that their Adsense ID number will be used on their articles and blogs.

  • New Permissions System. The permissions system has been overhauled to be a lot more efficient. Instead of editing each individual user's permissions, you can now create groups and place the users into those groups. When you change the permissions for the group, all the user's will be updated immediately. You can also restrict users to just certain categories, allowing them only limited or specific access.

  • Public Area Content Submission. In addition to the existing feature of contributors being able to post an article through your public site, you can now give them permissions to edit their article (if they don't have approve permission the article is re-set to pending upon edit). Another option is the ability to post and edit blog items from the public interface as well. Your authors will never need to see your control panel again.

  • New Control Panel Interface. A fresh design for the control panel makes managing your website a better experience.

  • Author Image Control. You can now specify the maximum size for new author's images. The default setting is 100x100, but this can be changed on the settings page. You can also now select where author images will and wont show up.

  • Spread the Word. New options on articles and blogs for website visitors to post your site to social bookmarking websites such as Digg, del.icio.us and StumbleUpon.
Additional Changes and Upgrades

ArticleLive NX 1.7 inncludes various tweaks and changes to the code and interface. They are listed below.

Control Panel Articles
  • Updated and optimized code site wide.
  • New 'show additional options' checkbox on page 1 of create/edit an article allows you to skip step 2.
  • Step 2/Additional Options step now uses a new 'article selector' feature to easily choose related, next and previous articles.
  • Dates now include time, used for timed display and RSS feeds.
  • Article pages now have Meta Description and Meta Keywords fields.
  • New 'Draft' status option, mainly for public area contributer use. This signals to the admin/editor that the user is still currently working on the article and does not want it considered for approval yet.
  • You can specify in the permissions whether users cna use the 'featured' option.
  • Bulk delete option
Settings
  • Now uses a tabbed display for better usability
  • Number control. You can specify the number of items to be displayed for different panels. e.g. Show 2 Featured articles and 10 Recent articles
  • Contact form settings, specify the email address it is to go to and the pages to be displayed on success and error
  • Spread the word On/Off options, one for articles, one for blogs.
  • Blog pinging On/Off options
  • Enable comments now split into 2 options: Enable Article Comments and Enable Blog Comments
  • 'Admin Email' field under 'website settings' specifies which address email notices are sent to.
Categories
  • Can now specify which categories to include in the 'Recent Articles' list.
  • New Icon Set
Control Panel Blogs
  • Using the settings page, pinging can be turned on and off.
  • Bulk Delete Option
WYSIWYG Editor
  • New Button, 'Clear Font', allows you to quickly remove any trace of different fonts. You can now keep the formatting, but remove the font for website consistency.
Pages
  • Two new non-visible default pages. Both are for after the contact form submission, one is a success message, the other is a error message.
  • Contact form now uses a CAPTCHA field.
