Hi everyone. Before I start this blog post I just want to mention that demand for Interspire Shopping Cart so far has been far beyond what we expected. The phone calls and pre-sales emails in both our US and Australian offices have doubled, and we really appreciate all of the positive feedback we've been receiving for the beta so far.
Having said that, I'm proud to announce that we've been working flat out all week and have just released Interspire Shopping Cart Beta 1.3 for
download. If you're an existing customer you can download it from the client area straight away. If you'd like to pre-order Interspire Shopping Cart at the discounted prices, you can also receive the beta version immediately.
The new beta version fixes all bugs found in Beta 1.2 and also includes
a host of new features, such as a new template (shown below) and the
addons framework.
The addons framework is a way for anyone to build addons for Interspire
Shopping Cart, and at the moment we've built one addon: Yahoo Search
Marketing integration. When you purchase this addon through the Addons
link in the Interspire Shopping Cart control panel, you can generate
custom ads for any/all products in your store automatically for the
Yahoo Search Marketing platform.
The ads can be downloaded in Yahoo's CSV file format and imported into
your YSM account to run ads for products in your store on Yahoo and
optionally any of their content partner sites, such as MTV, VH1, the
weather channel, etc . Here's a sneak peek:

Each beta release also includes a new template. For this release we've
gone with a simple template which can be customized to work with
practically any type of store:

We have many, many templates in the queue that we're in the process of
adding to Interspire Shopping Cart, including travel, technology,
homewares, etc. We'll be launching with a minimum of 10 but hopefully
20+ unique templates, and will be also adding dozens of templates
within the first few months of release. Of course Interspire Shopping Cart has a built-in template downloading system just like ArticleLive, so you can check for new templates when we release them and download them directly from your store's control panel.
Existing customers can find full upgrade instructions in the
_README.txt file in the Beta 1.3 zip file, however to upgrade it's easy:

I just bought (yesterday) the Starter edition and I will install it (I hope) today. I had some problems on my web server. Anyway, it's far from many of the shopping carts on the market. Today I made a lot of "changes" and "experiments" on the interface and, I have to admit, it is easier than using the Smarty based products. Also, I am very impressed by the clean both client and admin interface. I am just a little confused about my Starter version. I really dont know if I will be able to sell virtual goods. From the comparison matrix i did't get it if the starter has that ability or if that feature is present from the Digital edition. Anyway, congrats from Romania.

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for the kind words. I'll pass them onto the development team. In the starter you can sell up to 20 physical and/or downloadable products. Hope that helps. |

Since we are an existing client, can we download the beta to try it or do we need to purchase it?
Thanks |

Hi,
Ive just purchased a copy of the store and had a very quick look at viewing the adimin back end to look at the features. I have an initial question. Looking at the Feature Listing, this indicates that Newsletter Subscriptions are included in the product. However I can't find this in the back end. There is an option to purchase send Studio. Where is the Newletter subscriptions? |

Hi Jim,
Click the Promotions tab and you'll be able to export the details of your newsletter subscribers as a CSV file. |

I have been wondering about how it works with my local bank. Amazon will use their own bank to do the transfers instead of only accepting paypal and other such companies. What would be the case if a client wanted to use their bank or a service from their bank to handle all the transactions.

Hi Luke. Your bank should have an online API. If that's the case you can write a payment module for Interspire Shopping Cart to interface with their system.

Hi Glenn. The prices are already pre-release discounted by up to 50%, so we're not offering any other discounts at the moment.

Hi,
A couple of months back I asked about if the securepay (http://www.securepay.com.au/) payment gateway was to be included and I thought it was, reading your comparison matrix this is not listed as a supported gateway, is this likely to be included in the future?? As this gateway is very much integrated into our systems I would not proceed with purchasing (as much as I would like to) if this was not going to be supported. Cheers, Peter Scott |

Hi Peter,
Securepay just didn't make it into the first release but it takes about an hour to build a payment module so I don't see why we can't include it in the second update, sure. |

Hi Mitchell,
I currently use another shopping cart which I'm for the most part very happy with. I do use your ActiveKB which I'm very impressed with, so when I received the email with this new shopping cart I was very excited to say the least. You guys have absolutely though of almost everything I've been asking for in my other shopping cart. Even though I am planning on keeping my other shopping cart for now, I invested and purchased the Ultimate from you. I am absolutely delighted with all the features and functionality. I am specially impressed with the search engine friendly features that are built into this cart. I have been working with Chris about getting my categories and products moved over and he's been very helpful. Anyway keep up the good work and I look forward to much more to come. Thanks |

Hi Mitchell,
I have a general question. I'm Dutch and translated a part of the English text into the Dutch language. If there is an update what will happen? I changed some text using template design mode (click and edit) and some text on the FTP server (/language.*.ini) Lou |

Hi Lou,
We're still making daily changes to the language files, so we've been recommending our international customers to *not* change the language files until the first release, which will include an easy way to localize your copy from the control panel. |
