[Video] Interspire Email Marketer 6 Sneak Peek and Beta Invites

Published November 8, 2009 by Mitchell Harper

Update: Interspire Email Marketer 6 has been released. Learn more and try the demo here.

Hi everyone. We're extremely close to completing Interspire Email Marketer 6, which includes surveys, dynamic content and user groups, so I thought I'd put together a video showing you the new features in action. Just click the image above to watch the 12 minute video. It's a Quicktime video so if you have iTunes installed you shouldn't have any problems watching it.

As we wrap up our internal testing on Interspire Email Marketer 6 we're also looking for existing clients who would like a first look at the new features while participating in our closed beta program.

Please email iem6beta@interspire.com if you're interested - you'll need to include your existing Interspire Email Marketer order number as part of the email. We're looking for around 20 beta testers.

As I mention in the video, we're hoping to have Interspire Email Marketer 6 released in no longer than 2 weeks time. It will of course be a free upgrade for existing customers with a valid maintenance period.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy the video!

Looks like nice additions. Was hoping to see more list management functions built in to Email Marketer in this release. For example, send to everyone on List A who is not on List B.

Hi Tim. For this release surveys were the main focus, but ew haven't forgotten about contact filtering during sending.

Hi Darren. Apologies for that - I'm hoping to get a professional mic shortly so that should help.

Question about dynamic content blocks:

Let's say you are presenting one version of a headline targeted for people whose hobby is "basketball" and one version for people who match the hobby "tennis".

What happens if a user has selected both "basketball" and "tennis" as hobbies?

Hi Daniel. That's where the order of the options comes in. For example if your basketball header is created first, then when the email is sent and the subscriber's hobby matches basketball, the rest of the headers will be ignored.

Good presentation Mitch. Standout for me is having the survey information in the same dashboard.

Is the information kept in the user data. That is if I run a survey for a particular list and export that list will the survey data be in it as well as the normal custom fields a list might have?

Hi Glen,

Survey data is per user but no, the responses are kept separately from custom fields. You can of course do a full CSV export for each survey result however.

Hi Mitch,

When you exported the surveys, i noticed that you did it in Excel -format. Is it now possible to import contacts in Excel -format also?

Hi Mats,

Actually it was just a CSV file which can of course be read by Microsoft Excel.

Mitchell - looks great (I am an existing EM customer, so look forward to upgrading soon).

1 thing I wish would have been added to the dynamic block is a way to pull the dynamic content off of a webserver. For example, I would like to be able to create a linkedin style email (they send out a weekly email that is fully customized to each person that tells you what your friends are doing, whats new within your groups, etc)

I think if you could specify that the dynamic block gets pulled from a URL and can pass some customer specific parameters, then include whatever gets returned from the URL into the dynamic block. This would allow a developer to be able to fully personalize and customize the email going on. Otherwise there would be no way to include all this information as different dynamic blocks.

The way I see it, you have dynamic blocks, but those dynamic blocks are still static. I want to have dynamic dynamic blocks :)

Woo-hoo, so glad my suggestion is implemented in IEM6 (dynamic content)

I'll be definitely buying this version - it's now an almost mature solution for email marketing.

I say "almost" because you still need to allow sending from multiple IPs. I can't imagine myself sending a campaign to 500k subscribers through one single IP - that would mean disaster :(

Thanks again Interspire, looking forward to purchasing :)

Best wishes,
Cosmin (Gizmoc)
