splitting featured articles panel into two colums, tables, etc

Hi, I was wondering whether it's possible to split the "featured" articles panel articles on the main page into two columns, sort of like slate.com does, and some of the sites listed on the testimonial pages also do. If it is possible, can you show me how to do this?

Hi,

It is possible to do, but will take some extensive code modification which would be far too much for me to post here. You will have to have a stab at it yourself, basically need to change the template file and put the featured articles into two variables rather than one.
