To remove it while in design mode, while viewing the page in your browser, right-click anywhere on the screen and choose "Edit Layout". This will open up the built-in HTML editor and you can remove it from the code and click the save button.

If you're not in design mode, you can do so.

To enable design mode, login to the Admin Control Panel and click the Store Design link in the menu at the top of the page. In the new page that appears, choose the Design Mode tab and then make sure the checkbox at the bottom of that screen is checked for enabling design mode. Then click the save button and then the link for viewing your store in design mode. In the new page that appears, make sure that the "Enabled" icon in the design mode menu bar is highlighted. If it's not, click it to make it highlight yellow.
