Are credit card numbers stored in the database?

Interspire Shopping Cart gives you different options for different payment methods. If you are accepting and processing the order automatically using a Payment gateway (Such as PayPal) then credit card numbers are not stored in the database. The credit card numbers are only ever collected by the merchant provider.

If however, you turn on the option to process an order offline (using a credit card (manual) processing machine) then the credit card details will be stored in the database and encrypted using 128 bit industry standard. Once orders are processed, you can delete any of the payment details like the credit card number. You should make sure your web server complies with all security and industry standards when collecting credit card details for offline processing.
