Unhappy HELP !!! Add to Cart Button not working

Hi My add to cart button simply stopped working last week, so no one can purchase from my store !!!. On contacting Interspire their response was

Quote:
Can you please upgrade to version 5.5.4?

There was an issue in earlier versions of the shopping cart where this kind of error was happening
Unfortunately it's not that simple, as I have had some mods added and I don't want to upgrade until version 6 comes out. Having explained this to Interspire at lunchtime on Friday and asking them if there is a workaround I'm still waiting for a response.
At the risk of my customers thinking I am no longer in business does anyone know of a workaround ?
Thanks Tubs

Hopefully it was solved then. If not, then it's gonna be a tough stress. Kindly post any update so that we can see what we need to do...

If you are unable to add items to the cart it usually means that a portion of the database is corrupt. Run a repair operation ASAP. If you don't know what that is, ask your hosts to do it for you.

This is the case 99% of the time and a repair will fix it. If it's not that, it is usually either browser or server related and having to do with sessions and/or cookies.

If you did not do any modification to the software's core then it sounds to me like a problem in the database. You can test this yourself, try adding or retrieving customer or product information from your database and see if anything comes up. If the proper results are displayed, the problem could be caused by incompatibility between components. Try checking if you are using the proper software versions.

What if the repair can't fix the problem? Are there other remedies?

Hi!

I really need help ASAP! I am happy to pay immediately via PayPal if you can troubleshoot this problem for me.

My site has been working fine up until a couple days ago. Now, I'm unable to add an item to the cart. (We've had this issue reported by a customer, and tested ourselves on two computers, in two separate locations, so I know this is not a browser issue or something to do with clearing the cache or cookies.)

When you click add to cart, the cart loads, empty.

I've called both my host (Godaddy) and programmer. Programmer says it's a "database issue" and that I should contact GoDaddy and have them fix it. I contacted Godaddy, and they are saying everything is fine on their end, and the programmer should fix the database.

I really have no idea what went wrong, and I don't care who's fault it is. I just need it FIXED ASAP. I really can't afford to have the site malfunctioning in the middle of the holiday season, and I've already lost one sale that I know of.

PLEASE HELP!

For future reference, if it happens again you need to repair the isc_sessions table in the database (or empty it) - I have seen this issue before and its always been fixed by either a repair or empty of this table in the database.
