Default Retail Vs Wholesale

Hi,

I am currently migrating from Bizar Shop to Interspire and I am interested to hear how everyone is handling Retail versus Wholesale customers.

From my current shop I can assign different shipping and billing methods to each group. For example I charge postage for my wholesale customers after they order while for my retail customers I can charge a flat rate. Besides that I need numerous billing and shipping methods for international orders both retail and wholesale.

Unless I am missing something (maybe wrongly) I presumed there would be greater control for both these groups especially considering my currently shop is over 6 years old.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Does anyone know if any features such as selecting billing & shipping methods is possible from the group level?

Thanks in advance.

To be honest ISC doesnt really have wholesale/retail features. It has a more simplistic 'Customer group' feature that allows you to create groups of customers that receive different discounts. You can setup a 'wholesale' group with discounts BUT none of the other cart features such as freight, payment methods etc are effected - So regular and 'wholesale' group customers get the exact same options.

Not ideal.

Thanks. I thought as much. I should be able to get it to work but not an ideal look for my customers. It just looked like such a standard feature in Bizar shop I presumed it would be in Interspire.

You can easily create this. There's a bit of tweeking to be done, but it works. I use ISC for my B2B website. I have for example 3 customer groups, one is for local customers (which pay with iDEAL and PayPal), one for international customers (pays with Cc, Paypal and on invoice) third group is for my 'big' customers who get discount both fixed and %. I almost positive that this can be done for shipping options as well!! I also created a "login for price" hack which can be found on a different forum which you can use for your wholesale customers to login.

Anyway I'm not persuading you to get started with ISC, because like MyShop says there are few 'real' options for B2B and B2C, but just want to say that things can be done. Further B2B options are getting better and better, even though slow, but things like exempt tax for specific customers, the new 'options' system and 'multiple languages' are making ISC better for B2B use.

Hope this helps and if you need further help pm me

Meules - ISC cannot do these things! The only way to do this stuff would be to hack the PHP code to actually add these features.

That's what I meant with "You can easily create this"
