What I mean is I have told them of the big commerce system, and told them to signup for a free trial to see if it met with their requirements, and that I would help them with any customisation templates etc if they needed it. But after the trial had ended they choose not to proceed with it. I think part of the problem is that they have to form a separate contract with another party, as they system doesn't allow it to be resold. They just want me to handle everything so they have only got a single point of contact, which can't be done. I think Big Commerce is more for a DIY person or small business who wants to setup their own shop and manage everything themselves, without hiring a web designer. However after they have set it up they may then contact a partner to do some customisation and template design, which is possibly how your partners have become successful.

Most of the people that contact me want the web designer to handle it all from the start, and just want a single point of contact and single contract.
I did get some feedback from one saying they didn't like how all the sub categories were shown for all categories, when they only wanted the subcategories of the category they were in, to shown. They also wanted the products horizontally using a drop down mega menu. That is possibly possible with some customisation work of the templates. They also said they wanted to fully own the shopping cart and code so it could be moved between hosts, where the big commerce system is a leased. So I think it all depends on the client type.

I'll confirm on the forums/support pages but I would plan for them to be gone between July 2013 and December 2013.
Thanks, I have renewed my maintenance for another year.

I have recently launched two stores using ISC version 6.1.6 only to find a collection of bugs on this commercial paid software. Now I find out you are discontinuing the software altogether. I must say I am very disappointed with Interspire. I am still waiting on support to get back to me for help, with major issues that actually stop the software from working correctly, when I've used free products in the past with far less hassle. What is going to happen with existing licenses for these stores?

Default Bugs

Have found a few bugs in both 6.1.8 and it was also in 5.5.4. It occurs when you get onto the express cart checkout page. If youthen try to submit a quick search in top right box, a popup error occurs that says 'There was an error loading this step of the checkout. Please try again.' This is using the default tempate.

Another bug with the default template is that the dropdown categories menus get hidden behind the product image, if you are viewing the template in IE 7

The live chat section in the admin doesn't display properly. Although I believe there was a fix for this in the forums as the code has an error and is missing something, the fix hasn't been applied to the interspire files that you download.

Well, I really liked using ISC, sure it has bugs but it got the job done for me.

Whenever I think of BC I imagine being trapped inside a rather small box. I relish the freedom to update and innovate beyond what a SAAS can provide. So i'm off to find an alternative.

Wish me luck!

Good Luck... Maybe try lemonstand, CS cart or magento. Although, if you can installs apps onto a saas cart it makes it super powerful. However, I think it's stupid to pay $$ only to have things like "powered by bigcommerce" forced on you.

I think the type of cart you choose, depends on what your requirements are. Some others I have used which you install on your own server are prestashop, opencart (simple, but nice interface), and magento (is more for an expert). But that said the interspire cart measures up well against them too and has features that they don't have. Big commerce is a good solution if you don't want to be bothered managing the backend software.

will the forum continue after July 1st?

I think it’s essential for resellers and customers to have access and use this still

I also think it ridiculous that licenses can't be transferred after July 1st, we are going to have a lot of clients wanting blood and probably refunds too!

We have been a loyal reseller of Interspire and now we are being shafted. Don't they realise how this will affect our business!!!
