What is design mode and how do I use it?

Design Mode is a graphical way to manipulate the look of your store. When enabled through the control panel a small box with three icons will appear when you view your store. You can enable Design Mode by logging into the control panel of your shopping cart. Once logged in you will need to click the blue Store Design link in the upper right hand corner of the page. This will take you to another page, and when this page is done loading you will need to click the Design Mode tab. Once you are there you can put a check mark in the box and then save the changes. You can now view your store with this toolbar visible.

While in this mode you can do a variety of things to enhance the look and feel of your store. For example, if you wanted to change the text of a heading you can simply click the text. This will now make the text editable so that you can make changes if you so choose. Another great feature of Design Mode is that you can move panels around to make them cater to your needs. If you move the mouse over a panel you will notice that the cursor turns into a four way arrow. This lets you know that the item is movable. All you have to do is simply click and drag the panel where ever you feel fit.

Design Mode offers even more advanced editing if one needed it. You can do so by right clicking a panel and then click Edit Panel. This will open a new window that will allow you to go in and change the code to make things appear the way you want them to. Also, by right clicking you are given the options to Edit Layout and Edit Stylesheet.

To turn off Design Mode you simply go back to the control panel and uncheck the box that you previously checked to enable Design Mode.
