How to add a flash file or movie to my store?

The shopping cart has the ability to display flash files in your store. This is great for eye catching graphics or advertising. This is done by creating a banner that has the flash media embedded in it. The steps to complete this can be found below.

Version 4.0.x and before:
  1. After logging in to the control panel click the Promotions tab to access the drop down menu.
  2. In the drop down menu click View Banners and this will take you to another page.
  3. Once this page has loaded click the Create Banner button found towards the left of the page.
  4. You will need to give the banner a name to distinguish it from other banners you may create.
  5. After you have given the banner a name you will now need to go to the editor found below that. Click the Insert an Image icon to bring up a window that will give you more options.
  6. When the window pops up click the Flash tab.
  7. If the file is located on your computer then click the Browse button to locate the file, and then click the Go button to upload the file to the shopping cart. If the file is stored externally on another computer then enter the URL for the location of the file and click the Load button.
  8. You will now notice that the file is now located in the left pane of the window. Click the file once to highlight it. With it highlighted make any setting changes you need to make in the bottom right hand pane of the window.
  9. Once completed with the settings click the Insert Flash button. This will close the window, and take you back to the editor.
  10. Below the editor you will find some more settings to help you customize the way the banner is displayed. There are two required settings that need to be set.
  11. First is the Show on Page setting. Select the radio button that best suits your needs on how you would like the banner to be shown. The second setting is the Location setting. Choose whether you would like the banner on the top of the page or the bottom of the page.
  12. Now click the Save button to save all the changes you have just made.
Version 5.0.x and above:
  1. After logging in to the control panel click the Marketing tab to access the drop down menu.
Click the Insert / Edit Embeddable Media icon to bring up a window that will give you more options.
  6. When the window pops up, make sure that Flash is chosen.
  7. If the file is located on your computer, you must upload it to the server via FTP to somewhere on your server that you can remember. If you're not sure where to put it, I'd recommend the /product_images/uploaded_images/ directory. Once that is done, enter the URL for the location of the file and click the Insert button.
  8. Below the editor you will find some more settings to help you customize the way the banner is displayed. There are two required settings that need to be set.
  9. First is the Show on Page setting. Select the radio button that best suits your needs on how you would like the banner to be shown. The second setting is the Location setting. Choose whether you would like the banner on the top of the page or the bottom of the page.
  10. Now click the Save button to save all the changes you have just made.

You should now be able to see the flash media when you view your store on the pages that you have enabled it.
